The quest for the perfect sunflower photo

...unfortunately did not end today!
My sweet, sweet girl is a squinter. So on a rainy, overcast day like today, I thought it'd be a great chance to get one of her. Nope. No sun out and still, no beautiful blue eyes! I'm going to have to take her there at midnight or something... ha!

Anyway, trekked through the mud and ruined my sneaks for this keeper. Not the one I had in mind, but I'm holdin' out for next weekend!

Rain. AGAIN.

If this rain doesn't stop and allow me to take photos outside this weekend, I'm gonna have to give Mother Nature a phone call (if I could just find her #).

This field is calling my daughter's name...

New jewelry addition

How gorgeous is this Tiffany-inspired bracelet? It's 23 grams of solid .925 sterling silver with a 16mm photo charm in your choice of lengths at 7.5 inches or 8 inches. It's selling at an introductory price of $125 through the end of the year.
I just sold a piece of jewelry that I can't WAIT for to come in! The customer has excellent taste and chose the forest couture necklace with a 30x20mm pendant. I know it's going to be gorgeous!

Double the adorableness!

Today I had the awesome opportunity to photograph twins! This pair was about as cute as they get and at this age, they're also discovering their new found independence (I know this from my own Miss wannabe independent Madeline!) and their adoring parents were oh so great with them. They totally made me appreciate the team work that truely is parenting!

Here are a few of my favorites!

An evening at the park

This little girl needs to be in some sort of magazine or something. Everything I asked her to do, she did. Without hesitation. Just knew exactly what to do, where to stand and how to smile.

It was truely my pleasure taking her photographs today at the gorgeous Renfrew Park in Waynesboro.

And how do you like my new car prop and tea set? She definitely approved of them!

Part of the fun I have is getting kids to show me all of their expressions, not just their smiles! This pout was totally fake... I told her mom that I bet she never actually does this face on purpose.

She liked the tea party so much that she changed and had another one!
A secret tea party!

A Rainout

I had to cancel my Friday evening session due to the rain so this weekend was another break for me. Today is my husband's birthday and we were supposed to take Madeline to the Fair but... it's 95 degrees out and humid as ever. So with her in a hot cast, we have to postpone that too.

Oh well, it gives me time to rest up for next week's sessions!

Stay tuned for a photo of my newest {awesome} prop that I'm sure is going to be a huge hit with the toddler ages!

We have a winner!

I would like to say THANK YOU to everyone who voted in the contest! It was a lot of fun to watch the contest get really close. Everyone was such great sports!

But, the winning photo is #16 and belongs to the lovely V family who has a choice of 3 fabulous prizes.

I would also like to make a special mention to #13 who sent me the most new client referrals as a result of this contest and for that, she will win a gift certificate towards a future session, products or prints.

Thanks again and have a great weekend!

Precious

I love newborns. So tiny. So sweet and so precious. This little guy was no exception. His adoring mom and dad were so relaxed and they were up for anything I suggested which was a lot of fun!

Thanks so much guys! He's quite the charmer and I can't wait to come back when he gets bigger!

Updates and a Model Search!

Hello! Thank you so much for the well wishes from several emails regarding my daughter's surgery last Friday. She did very well and is recooperating nicely. I told you she's my hero!

Only three more days to vote in the Best of Summer Contest! It's still way too close to predict who will win and I suspect that it will stay that way until the very end. Thank you so much for voting. This contest has been a lot of fun!

I received an email recently that got me thinking. It said something along the lines of: Your work is beautiful but think about broadening your horizons to include children of all ethinic backgrounds. So of course I am always open to any child and family, I just don't seem to attract a diverse background of people. Don't get me wrong, I adore the people I've gotten to photograph and I would LOVE to photograph all of their friends and families too because that's how awesome they all are!

So here's my solution to diversifying my portfolio, I hope, because Sandy Wagerman can photograph anyone with two feet, or even one!

From now until the end of November, I am seaching for two models for free photo sessions. Here are the parameters:

  • Session fee is waived and includes a free 8x10. Additonal photographs can be purchased separately.
  • I am looking for people of African-American decent, Hispanic decent, Indian decent or Asian decent.
  • One session must include a baby age 0-1 and the other can be of any age or family.
  • Everything else is the same as a usual session (i.e., up to 2 hours, on-location or in-studio, etc...)

Know anyone who is deserving of some free photographs who fits the bill? Send 'em my way!

This is what happens when...

... you have an aunt that is a photographer who wants to try out new locations in downtown Frederick and you happen to be a handsome 8-year old going on 21.

And the skull tie? Totally his idea and I LOVE it! Kids always know better than me!

A Birthday Girl

You might remember this little angel from an earlier session. Her parents happen to be friends of ours so I'm very glad I got to do my very first "First Birthday Cake Smash" photos with this happy girl! She knew exactly what to do with that cake! And she was also a great model for my handmade first birthday hat.

I also took some family photos at the gorgeous Gettysburg Battlefields. I love this location for photographs!

There is a place high above the battlefields with a ton of rocks overlooking the fields below. It's absolutely breathtaking when the is sunsetting...as are these photos!
